CENTRAL PARK SOUTH RENOVATION

NEW YORK, NY

This project entails combining two apartments and the hallway into a three bedroom, 2,050 square foot apartment with treetop views of Central Park. The partial renovation features a library that can be used as a guest room or office, an ample kitchen, a more functional foyer, a bar area for entertaining, a larger master bathroom, and reorganizes both the master suite and guest suite. The use of darker wood for the library cabinetry and paneling, helps to create a distinct space with clean lines, that is both warm and inviting. The guest bathroom off the foyer/library doubles as a powder room with a frosted glass shower door separating the room from the shower. Lighter materials throughout the apartment aimed to keep the spaces clean and bright, and to act as a neutral backdrop to the sweeping views of the park. By re-thinking the traditional detailing, the renovation aimed to keep some of the historic significance of the building, while incorporating a timeless and more modern sensibility.
