Located on New York City’s Central Park South with picturesque views looking north, this 875 sq ft one-bedroom apartment pied-a-terre was not substatially reconfigured, but the space was transformed through the use of crisp modern detailing that replaced undistinguished moldings, cabinetry and finishes. Because the client desired a harmonious space, SPG designed the architecture and provided interior services with a combination of refurbished antiques and new modern pieces with a custom SPG-designed credenza and coffee table that fully compliment the architectural cabinetry + millwork. The modern sensibility is punctuated by the client’s collection of Asian decorative objects and furniture. The apartment is upgraded and modernized through the removal of asbestos tiles and insulation, the complete upgrading of the unit’s electrical system, and the modernization of the bathroom and kitchenette. The result provides for a clean modern and functional home devoid of visual clutter.
